Morges, Switzerland, 5 July 2012 – CA Technologies partners across EMEA are evolving to managed services business models to take advantage of new revenue opportunities presented by changing IT purchasing trends, according to the 2012 CA Technologies Channel Index, the annual study tracking the IT industry outlook of CA Technologies EMEA channel partners. Over half of partners (57%) have already evolved or started to evolve into MSPs, with a further 30% that have not started the transition saying they are aware that they need to.
For the fourth year in a row the CA Technologies Channel Index study has revealed that cloud computing uptake is increasing, with most companies either using or expecting to use some form of cloud solution. This year over two thirds (69%) of EMEA partners predict an increase in cloud expenditure, up from 60% in 2011 and 48% in 2010. As customers increase spending on external technology services, traditional IT solution providers are realising a new revenue opportunity and are evolving business models accordingly. The study revealed that almost a quarter of IT budgets (22%) are currently spent with service providers, with partners predicting this to increase to 38% over the next three years. This is a significant increase and is representative of the effect new cloud models and offerings are having on EMEA customer and partner organisations.
In recent years we have witnessed an important change in the technology market. IT is now critical in bridging the gap between increased demand on organisations to deliver business outcomes and the pressure on budgets and resources. We call this gap the new normal of IT. said Andrea Dossena, Vice President of Growth Markets and Partner Sales for EMEA, CA Technologies. The Channel Index study shows that our partners are rapidly responding to the market by evolving their business model to provide new managed services that meet customer needs. We are committed to supporting our partners with our technology and channel programme as they help customers manage complex IT environments and leverage new IT service delivery models.
The study also reveals that 40 percent of EMEA partners already offer managed services around infrastructure management, backup and recovery and service management. When asked about their plans for the next 12 months, 34% partners indicated that they plan to develop application performance related MSP offerings, followed by service management (30% of partners plan to develop service management MSP offerings), identity and access management (29%) and backup and recovery (29%).
