Business:
AP Secretariat is an e-government pioneer in India. The organisation provides a range of citizen-centric services via the Internet to the population of Andhra Pradesh - the country’s fourth largest state by area and fifth largest by population.
Challenge:
AP Secretariat’s e-government projects and services are underpinned by a complex IT infrastructure, which includes a database of 1.7 million digital files. The size of the infrastructure makes it vulnerable to virus, spam and Trojan attacks. However, responding to such threats was taking a long time.
Solution:
The organisation has deployed a security management solution founded on CA Access Control and CA Secure Content Manager that provides multi-level protection for the infrastructure and network. The solution provides content filtering mechanisms for SMTP, HTTP and FTP and has also simplified administration.
Result:
AP Secretariat has improved access management, reduced spam and eliminated Internet-borne infections. The organisation now has greater visibility of security risks, and can detect anomalous events and the usage patterns of individual intruders.
