CA Technologies Taps Michael Denning to Head its Security Business
Former VeriSign Exec Joins as General Manager, Security Customer Solutions Unit; Dave Hansen Takes New Position to Lead Management Products and Solutions Teams
ISLANDIA, N.Y., November 29, 2010 – CA Technologies (NASDAQ:CA) today announced the appointment of Michael Denning as general manager of its Security business, which is focused on Identity and Access Management
(IAM). Denning replaces Dave Hansen, who has accepted a new position leading the businesses that comprise CA Technologies distributed enterprise IT management portfolio. Both Denning and Hansen report to David Dobson, executive vice president and group executive, Customer Solutions Group, CA Technologies.
“With his deep security expertise and record of outstanding leadership, Mike is ideally suited to lead our team as we advance Identity and Access Management into the next generation – whether deployed on premise or as a cloud service – and grow our IAM business with both enterprise customers and emerging markets,” said Dobson. “We look to Mike to build on the success Dave Hansen and his team enjoyed over the past three years, which included some of the business’ best quarters on record.”
Denning joins CA Technologies from VeriSign, Inc., where he spent the last 11 years. Most recently, Denning led VeriSign’s Enterprise Security Services, a multi-million dollar business with functions ranging from sales and marketing to service delivery and research and development. Denning’s experience delivering a platform for managed service providers is important to CA Technologies IAM strategy for continued on-premises and cloud service development. Denning will operate from CA Technologies New York City office.
“This is an exciting time to be joining CA Technologies,” said Denning. “The market need for Identity and Access Management is growing rapidly across organizations of all sizes, and CA Technologies has the portfolio to address organizations’ need to control users, their access and what they can do with information. We have a tremendous opportunity to build our enterprise business and also deliver the technology for use in alternative delivery models suited for growing companies. I look forward to leading that effort.”
As general manager for CA Technologies Management Products & Solutions customer solutions unit, Hansen is responsible for overseeing the company’s Cloud, Virtualization and Automation, Service Assurance, and Service and Portfolio Management businesses. This portfolio is designed to seamlessly manage IT and the business of IT across the physical, virtual and cloud connected environments for large enterprise data centers, and to assist clients in managing the transition from physical to virtual to cloud environments.
“As CA Technologies former CIO, I deployed our products and solutions in our own IT operation and have always looked at our technology through the eyes of a customer. I know the capabilities our solutions offer and the compounded benefits they bring to a business when integrated and automated,” said Hansen. “I’m excited to be working with leaders of our products and solutions teams to ensure we continue to deliver what our customers need to enable their own business growth.”
