CA World' 13: Going Green!

The theme for CA World ’13 is "Go big. IT with impact." However, in one very important way, CA World will go big with zero impact. We’re pleased to announce that CA World ’13 will be a carbon-neutral event.

What does this mean exactly? We will calculate the carbon emissions associated with CA World based on travel, lighting, heat and energy. Then, in partnership with Carbonfund.org, we will offset these emissions with mitigation projects that recapture an equal amount of carbon dioxide or greenhouse gases.

Sustainability is one of our core principals, reflected in our innovation with the software solutions we provide that include our energy and sustainability products.

We’re committed to lead by example to advance the triple bottom line of people, planet and profit. We’ve partnered with Carbonfund.org to select key projects that will offset the carbon footprint generated by CA World. These projects include:

• A landfill methane-to-energy project in New York State that will capture methane (a gas about 23 times more damaging than carbon dioxide) from landfills and convert it into heat energy for four counties in New York.
• A rainforest protection project in the Amazon Basin will direct payments to rainforest conservation, and provide locals with sustainable economic opportunities.

CA World is our flagship event, providing the opportunity to share and showcase innovation and best practices—ours, as well as those from our customers and partners. As a software provider, we have a responsibility to develop solutions and share best practices that help our customers monitor and mitigate their own environmental impact. We chose the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino for CA World ’13 due to its track-record for sustainable operations.
