Announcing CA SymDump® Version 9.0
Version 9.0 of CA SymDump® for CICS, CA SymDump® Batch and CA SymDump® System is generally available. These products now include a graphical user interface that provides a common look and feel and consistent functionality, where applicable, across all CA SymDump products.

This graphical user interface includes:

  • A plug-in deliverable for Eclipse users and a Rich Client Platform (RCP) deliverable for non-Eclipse users. Both are CA Mainframe Software Manager (CA MSM) compatible to facilitate easy installation and upgrades.
  • Support for IBM Rational Developer for System z® (RDz) to help provide seamless integration between the CA SymDump graphical user interface and the RDz integrated development environment.
  • Specialty views that expedite the fault analysis and resolution process, including fault repository views, source and data views, analysis views and CICS trace views.
  • User-customizable views and perspectives and user-defined profiles that help you maximize your effectiveness.
  • Value-add features such as the Watch View, which helps you to more quickly examine data fields and assess their role in, and relationship to, the problem.
  • Incorporated product-use guidelines, including basic help with contents and index search, dynamic help and cheat sheets. This facilitates interactive training, decreases the learning curve, increases adoption rate, and helps you quickly become more effective.

The many customers who have taken advantage of the similar interface for CA InterTest™ for CICS and CA InterTest™ Batch tell us it is significantly simplifying debugging for both expert and less experienced developers. The ability to see multiple debugging windows at the same time makes it much easier to find problems. We're sure the CA SymDump interface will help users perform fault analysis tasks more quickly and easily. So don't wait - upgrade your version today.

This webcast will show how Aflac has implemented a Unix Systems Services C application in Endevor using CMEW as the interface to handle the USS long file name structure. With the improved functionality in CA Endevor R14 (they upgraded from R12 to V15), the Endevor alternate id is now able to access the USS file (as opposed to the user's id) giving Aflac improved security. Joe Bigini, Endevor Administrator at Aflac, will be presenting.
