CA Federation Manager Deployed on CA SiteMinder® and CA Identity Manager Validated Under Internationally-Recognized Security Certification
This September, CA Technologies announced that CA Federation Manager r12 SP1 deployed on CA SiteMinder and CA Identity Manager r12.5 have met the rigorous requirements of Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 3+ from the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme.
"These product certifications complement our CA SiteMinder and CA Access Control certifications. Together they provide important technologies that enable more secure cloud computing adoption while still protecting an agency's existing on-premises systems," said Dave Hansen, general manager of the Security business at CA Technologies. "This helps IT organizations secure the dynamic IT supply chain made up of services found in house as well as outside the firewall."
Common Criteria is an internationally-recognized, independent security certification recognized by governments in more than 26 countries, including the United States. Certification is granted when a Common Criteria testing laboratory determines that a product meets a defined measure of security. The certification addresses product functionality, development environment, documentation and product testing measures.
Customizable Workflow Now Available in CA Role & Compliance Manager 12.5 SP3
Large organizations continue to exhibit high demand for Identity Governance capabilities such as entitlements certification. Entitlements certification (also known as attestation) is a crucial compliance process that requires business managers to validate the need for employees' access to sensitive data. Entitlements certification can help organizations minimize security risk by identifying and eliminating unnecessary access and ensuring that users' access rights are appropriate and necessary. This paves the way for simpler audits and more effective proof of compliance.
While solutions exist to help streamline certification, the ability to customize certification solutions to each organization's unique processes is critical for effective deployments. Every organization has its own unique workflow processes. CA Role & Compliance Manager already includes and will continue to provide a number of out-of-the-box workflow options for approvals and alerting. In addition, the new 12.5 SP3 release introduces a completely customizable workflow process that allows organizations to build (either internally or with assistance from CA Services or CA partners) workflows that align with each organization's unique requirements.
The new customized workflow capability in CA Role & Compliance Manager 12.5 SP3 provides a graphical interface for designing workflow processes using a combination of pre-defined "building blocks". CA Role & Compliance Manager provides over 50 building block operations (such as certify, send email, get attribute, and check for violations). A variety of custom workflows can then be created, including, but not limited to:
- Various approval processes including voting (x out of y approvals needed), weighted approvals or parallel approval processes
- An access request requiring one or two approvals depending on user's title
- Emailing the initiator of a self-service request when the request is started, approved or rejected
In addition to these workflow improvements, CA Role & Compliance Manager 12.5 SP3 also further refines the user interface through the introduction of consolidated approval and certification screens and updated administrative screens. It also includes platform support for Linux Red Hat 5.3, Windows 2008 SP2 and Oracle 11g R2.
