Associate Software Engineering Program

CA Technologies started this exciting, challenging program for new Computer Science (or related discipline) graduates in Europe in 2005 and expanded to the United States in 2009. The 2009, 2010 and 2011 classes each consisted of about 20 new hires recruited from top Computer Science programs across the country. The new hires spent one to two months in our Mainframe Training Program in Plano, Texas. While there, they were introduced to the mainframe, which is the enterprise computing system that 90% of the Fortune 1000 companies rely on for their most important business needs.

Topics covered in the training include the mainframe z/OS operating system, the user interface for developing on the mainframe, an embedded UNIX-oriented operating system, programming in the mainframe’s Assembler language and REXX scripting language, and popular mainframe transaction servers, databases, file structures, and change management systems. As part of their training, the new Associate Software Engineers were introduced to senior members of theĀ Mainframe Development team, learning from them the tremendous benefits that CA customers receive from our mainframe software products. Upon completing the program, each graduating Associate Software Engineer located to one of six CA Development Centers, to begin their software development careers. CA Development Centers are located in:

  • Plano, TX
  • Framingham, MA
  • Pittsburgh, PA
  • Lisle, IL
  • Ewing, NJ
