Not likely. This talk will start by giving you a framework to understand cloud computing in a way you can explain to your Facebook friends. Using this framework we will discuss the new business models and the fundamental lessons learned from consumer application cloud services e.g. Amazon, Google, World of Warcraft, and Twitter. We’ll discuss how these fundamental lessons could be applied to next generation business apps. Finally, you'll be left with some homework assignments, which if you complete, will define the future of apps in your enterprise.

Cisco NGIN: Your Network as the Innovation Engine for your Organization

Abstract:
Life in IT used to be much simpler. Employees used IT certified desktops to access a set of well-understood applications deployed on dedicated servers residing in the data center.

Today, however, employees are looking to use their personal devices – like tablets and smartphones – to access corporate resources. Applications are more complex too, and may be virtualized and move between machines, data centers, or even into the cloud. Video and peer-to-peer collaboration applications are changing traffic patterns and putting new stresses on conventional networks.
In this session, Cisco Vice President Marie Hattar examines how these mega-trends are impacting businesses worldwide. In this new and rapidly changing IT environment, organizations need new capabilities to improve business agility and respond to customer and end-user demands. The Cisco Next Generation Intelligent Network architecture transforms the network into a central control point for business and IT policy, enabling organizations to execute with unmatched agility and speed. This session will be of interest to CXO executives who are interested in how technology can enhance their business, as well as to IT managers who are looking to prepare their infrastructure for the next phase of innovations in networking.

Speaker:

Marie Hattar
Cisco Systems, Vice President, Enterprise Marketing

Abstract:
Hear about the realities of what your IT looks like in the era of cloud computing. Andi and the panelists will show all the pieces of a real hybrid IT environment and the alternative opportunities and approaches that a CIO and their IT management team must think about. Finally, they will speak with the enterprise and service providers about how the role of IT changes in this new world and how that works in reality.
