Technical Details
Traffic
- Monitors the number of octets transmitted over the interface including framing characters.
- Alerts when traffic exceeds % utilization or bytes/sec over a defined period of time.
- Alerts when interface has ‘no’ traffic on inbound, outbound, or both interfaces over a defined period of time.
Errors
- Monitors the number of packets that could not be transmitted because of errors.
- Alerts when the number of packets (with errors) per second exceeds a defined threshold.
Discards
- Monitors the number of discarded packets.
- Alerts when the number of discarded packets/sec exceeds a defined threshold.
Queue Length
- Monitors the length of the output packet queue (in packets).
- Alerts when the number of packets in the queue exceeds a defined threshold.
State
- Monitors the current operational state of the interface. A ‘down’ state indicates that no packets can be passed.
- Alerts when interface is ‘expected to be up’, but instead is in down state.
- Alerts when interface is ‘expected to be down’, but instead is in an up state.
