ISLANDIA, N.Y., July 27, 2009 – CA, Inc. (NASDAQ:CA) and Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (NYSE: ACS) today announced a multi-year agreement to utilize CA mainframe and distributed Enterprise IT Management solutions across the ACS platform. CA’s solutions will enable ACS to enhance its operational efficiency, expand the IT and business process services offered to ACS clients, and establish a foundation for the development of future new services.
The agreement significantly expands the companies’ prior relationship beyond the mainframe, and adds comprehensive new capabilities to help ACS better manage the performance, security and governance of its clients’ critical business applications.
As part of the agreement, ACS will also use CA solutions to help reduce its carbon footprint through more effective management of energy consumption.
“Through this partnership, CA and ACS can now better help enterprise customers to optimize their use of IT across mainframe and distributed systems,” said Dennis Kozak, senior vice president, Global Service Providers, CA, Inc. “With CA solutions, service providers and enterprises can reduce waste and dramatically increase the value that IT delivers to internal and external customers, which is the foundation of CA’s Lean IT approach. We are delighted to build on our 15-year track record of mainframe management success at ACS with this deeper relationship.”
After an extensive evaluation, ACS decided to extend its partnership with CA based on the breadth of CA’s Enterprise IT Management solution portfolio, its experience in the service provider market and its proven ability to deliver superior service and support. The new CA solutions deployed at ACS include Energy and Sustainability Management, Project and Portfolio Management, Application Performance Management, Infrastructure Management, Workload Automation, Storage and Recovery Management and Governance, Risk and Compliance Management. These enable ACS to improve its own efficiency and deliver new value-added services to customers. CA and ACS plan to partner on new solutions to address challenges like the management of cloud computing.
“Our partnership with CA helps drive business results for both ACS and our mutual clients,” said Derrell James, executive vice president and group president, ACS IT Outsourcing Solutions. “We are already seeing the benefits of CA technology in managing data center energy consumption, with the potential of annual savings and a reduced carbon footprint. Our clients are also seeing significant value from the CA relationship, and we have seen strong demand for the new services. We look forward to developing additional offerings with CA to continue this momentum.”
