ISLANDIA, N.Y., November 18, 2009 – CA, Inc. (NASDAQ: CA) today announced that CA Spectrum® Infrastructure Manager has achieved international Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 2 certification from the Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC) Canadian Common Criteria Scheme (CCCS). Common Criteria is an internationally recognized security certification required by the U.S. and certain other governments worldwide for departments and agencies seeking to procure commercial products.
“CA is committed to achieving the highest standards and compliance requirements for our products,” said Roger Pilc, corporate senior vice president and general manager of CA's Infrastructure Management and Automation business unit. “For some of our customers, particularly the large number of government and defense-oriented organizations, Common Criteria certification provides essential third-party validation for the quality of vendors’ products. CA Spectrum, as well as a growing list of other CA products, has successfully met a rigorous set of security standards.”
For organizations focused on avoiding the cost and risk of service delivery failure, CA Spectrum provides integrated service, fault and configuration management. The solution is designed to model and monitor the business services IT supports, detect issues and the impact they have on the business, resolve problems quickly, and integrate configuration management into a single infrastructure management solution.
CA Spectrum Infrastructure Manager release 9.0.1 is certified at the EAL 2 level of the Common Criteria scheme, as defined by ISO/IEC 15408-2 and ISO/IEC 15408-3, which address product functionality, development environment, documentation, and product testing measures.
The evaluation was performed by EWA Canada’s Common Criteria Evaluation Facility. EWA is one of only three labs approved by the Communications Security Establishment Canada that meet the Canadian Common Criteria Scheme. These labs conduct IT security evaluations for conformance to the Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation, International Standard ISO/IEC 15408.
Other CA products certified under Common Criteria include CA Access Control for Windows r8, CA Directory r8.1, CA eHealth® Performance Manager r5.7.9, CA NSM r11.1, and CA SiteMinder r12.0.1.
About Common Criteria
The Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation (CC) and the companion Common Methodology for Information Technology Security Evaluation (CEM) are the technical basis for an international agreement, the Common Criteria Recognition Agreement (CCRA), which ensures that:
- Products can be evaluated by competent and independent licensed laboratories so as to determine the fulfillment of particular security properties, to a certain extent or assurance.
- Supporting documents are used within the Common Criteria certification process to define how the criteria and evaluation methods are applied when certifying specific technologies.
- The certification of the security properties of an evaluated product can be issued by a number of Certificate Authorizing Schemes, with this certification being based on the result of their evaluation.
These certificates are recognized by all the signatories of the CCRA.
