Summary

Antivirus Gold is installed by some trojans without asking for user permission. The desktop wallpaper is modified and advertisement is displayed urging the user to buy Antivirus Gold. Upon clicking on the message, a web browser is opened to point to www.AntiVirus-Gold.com. The purpose of this trojan is to install itself and pretend that only AntiVirus Gold can remove it.

Once installed, the rogue software usually uses scare tactics to inform the user that spyware or malware is installed on their system. The rogue security software then claims to offer remediation in exchange of payment. These applications can come bundled with other malware that serve other purposes. This software usually comes in the form of Anti-spyware, or Anti-virus applications.
