Site Environmental Profile

In an effort to better serve you, CA is initiating a Site Environmental Profile for use by any member of your company that has access to a specific site. A Site Environmental Profile is a method for you to predefine configurations and preferences for the hardware that CA software executes upon. It can be attached to an issue when the issue is created or it can be added to a pre-existing issue at any time. The profile is only good on a specific site ID. If your company has more than one site ID, the Environmental Profile is only accessible on the site ID it was created, but anyone who has access to the site may use any Environmental Profile even if it was created by someone else. This enhancement will allow customers (You?) to create and maintain product specific profiles and include the answers to product specific questions commonly asked by CA Support in order to avoid repetitive questions.

Creating an Environmental Profile

To create an Environmental Profile, you will first need to click on the Site Profile link at the top of any CSO application page. Once you are taken to the Site Environmental Profile screen, you can create a new Site Environmental Profile. A site may have a maximum of 25 active Site Environmental Profiles. If you try to create a 26th site, you will receive an error message and will have to delete an active profile. See Deleting a Site Environmental Profile. If the maximum has not been reached, you will be allowed to create a new Site Environmental Profile. There are two methods to create a profile. The first method is to provide a name for your profile id in the profile name text box and enter the appropriate data in the category text boxes and hit save. The second method to create a profile id is to provide a profile name in the profile name text box and then click on the Copy from User Profile button and then select save. The second method will only work if you have a user defined environmental profile. You can verify this by clicking on the My Account link at the top of the page and then going to the Environmental Profile tab and verifying you have information stored in your user profile. Once the profile is created you can use it as input on any case, a pre-existing one or a when creating a new case.

Updating a Site Environmental Profile

Once you have created a Site Environmental Profile, you can update it at any time. It will not change profile information stored on any pre-existing case, but it will attach the latest saved data to any new issues or any pre-existing issues it is attached to after the update has occurred. You may only update a Site Environmental Profile you have created, any profile created by someone else cannot be updated by you. You may use the other persons Site Environmental Profile for any of your issues, but you may not update or delete another person's profile. To update any of your existing profiles click on the Site Environmental Profile link at the top of any CSO page, click on the profile name, make any updates and save.

Deleting a Site Environmental Profile

At any time, you may delete a Site Environmental Profile you have created. You will not be allowed to delete a Site Environmental Profile created by another person. To delete any of your existing profiles, click on the Site Environmental Profile link at the top of any CSO page, select the Site Environmental Profile you wish to delete by clicking on the check box in front of the Profile name and click the delete button that appears prior to the list at the top of the Site Environmental profile page.

Sorting a Site Environmental Profile List

When you select the Site Environmental Profile link from the top of any CSO page, you are presented with a list of Site Environmental Profiles for the Site ID you have specified in your Site ID drop down. If you have no Site Environmental Profiles defined, you will receive a message indicating no Environmental Profiles exist for your Site ID. If there are any profiles defined for your site, they will be listed in tabular form below the Create and Delete buttons. Each column has the ability to be sorted in either ascending or descending order. You can select any column from the sort dropdown and select either ascending or descending from the direction drop down.

Specifying a Site Environmental Profile as your Default

You may specify any Site Environmental Profile as your Default Site Environmental Profile. You do not need to be the creator to specify the profile as your default. You set your default profile by going to the Site Profile link. A list of Site Environmental Profiles is displayed, if any exist. If there are no pre-defined Site Environmental Profiles, a message is displayed informing you of that condition existing. To set the default if a list is presented, you go to the far right column of the list and click the radio button associated to the Site Environmental Profile you wish to set as the default. You can change your default choice at anytime by selecting the radio button located at the far right of the list associated to a different Site Environmental Profile.

Specifying an Environmental Profile on a New Case

When creating a case, the inclusion of an Environmental Profile in the case is a defaulted selection. To exclude an Environmental Profile from the case, deselect the Include Environmental Checkbox found near the bottom of the page. To include an Environmental Profile in the case, leave the check box checked and select the radio button which best selects the Environmental Profile you would like to use. Your choices are to use your User Environmental Profile, the default Site Environmental Profile you have previously selected from the Site Environmental Profile List or you may select from the list of Site Environmental Profiles defined for your Site ID.

You must have a User Environmental Profile defined for that option to be used. If you do not have a User Environmental Profile ID, you will receive an error message in your issue stating that. If you select your Default Site Environmental Profile, you must have predefined the default profile in the Site Environmental Profile page. If your site id has only one Environmental Profile, that profile will be considered the default for your site. If your site has more than one Environmental Profile and you did not have a default profile selected, then you will receive an error message stating there is no default Environmental Profile set. If you select the Select from Site Profiles, you will be presented with a list of the Site Environmental Profiles associated to your Site ID. You click the radio button in the Select column next to the Site Environmental Profile you would like to use. If there are no Site Environmental Profiles associated to your Site ID, a message will be presented stating that there are no Environmental Profiles associated to your Site ID.

Specifying an Environmental Profile on a Pre-Existing Case

When updating a case's activity, the inclusion of an Environmental Profile in the case is a defaulted selection. To exclude an Environmental Profile from the case, leave the checkbox before the Include Environmental Profile unselected. To include an Environmental Profile in the case, select the checkbox to Include Environmental Profile and select the radio button which best selects the Environmental Profile you would like to use.
