1.0 Welcome

Welcome to the readme for the CA Harvest Change Manager Plug‑in for Eclipse (CA Harvest Plug‑in for Eclipse) r7.20.3. This document contains important information you need to know before installing or using the CA Harvest Plug‑in for Eclipse with CA Harvest Change Manager (CA Harvest) r7.1 SP2. For information on installing CA Harvest components, see the CA Harvest r7.1 documentation, available from Technical Support at http://www.ca.com/support.

2.0 New and Enhanced Features

  • New "Team > Show in Harvest Repositories" action available for all shared file resources.
    Invoking this action will activate the Harvest Repositories View and select the version (as a child of a package) associated with the shared file resource.

  • New "Harvest Version" properties page added for shared file resources.
    The properties dialog for a shared file resource now contains a new "Harvest Version" page displaying the properties of the Harvest version associated with the version resource.

  • New "Package State" column added to resource Compare list views.
    Invoking "Compare, or Replace With Version in Harvest" actions from a shared resource now displays a list view that includes a new Package State column. This column represents the state in which the package which contains the version currently resides.

  • New Harvest Team preference – "Show Package State columns for Versions in Lists View"
    If this new preference is selected, the Harvest Lists view will display an additional Package State column for versions. This column represents the state in which the package which contains the version currently resides. By default, this preference is unselected.

  • Package State and Package Name now displayed in left/right compare panes within Incoming/Outgoing Mode View
    When differences are displayed in the Incoming/Outgoing Mode view, the compare labels for the left/right panes now include package state and name. The label format is now of the form "VersionName : VersionNumber (StateName:PackageName)". The state name represents the state in which the package currently resides.

  • New "Show Package and State in Tree" preference available within Incoming/Outgoing Mode View
    This new preference is accessible from the Incoming/Outgoing Mode view's toolbar. When "Show Package and State in Tree" is selected, incoming files are displayed with the package and state appended to the version name, in the form VersionName (StateName:PackageName). The state name represents the state in which the package currently resides. Changes to this preference are stored between Eclipse sessions. By default, this preference is unselected.


    3.0 Operating System Support

    This section lists the platforms supported by the CA Harvest Plug‑in for Eclipse. CA supports these platforms for the duration of their life cycle, as determined by their manufacturer, or until CA announces that we are no longer supporting them. For the latest information about supported platforms, see our web site, http://www.ca.com/support.


    3.1 Windows

    The CA Harvest Plug‑in for Eclipse is supported on the following Windows platforms:


    4.0 System Requirements

    This section describes the system requirements for the CA Harvest components supported on each platform.


    4.1 CA Harvest r7.1 SP2

    This release of the CA Harvest Plug‑in for Eclipse is supported with CA Harvest r7.1 SP2.


    4.2 Eclipse 3.4, 3.3, or 3.2

    The Eclipse Foundation's Eclipse SDK 3.4, 3.3, or 3.2 must be installed separately on the supported platforms.

    If your target integrated development environment (IDE) is one of the following IBM IDEs that installs Eclipse, you do not need to install a separate version of Eclipse:

  • Windows 2000 Server

  • Windows 2000 Advanced Server

  • Windows 2000 Professional

  • Windows Server 2003 Standard

  • Windows Server 2003 Enterprise

  • Windows XP Professional
  • Windows Vista
  • IBM Rational Application Developer 7.0.0.3


    4.3 Web Browsers

    The following Web browsers are supported:

    The CA Harvest Plug‑in for Eclipse is installed using the Eclipse Update Manager, a feature provided by Eclipse. The Eclipse Update Manager is a built‑in plug‑in installation and update manager that simplifies the installation process and lets you manage various plug‑in instances.     5.2 Install the CA Harvest Plug-in for Eclipse

    The Harvest Plug-in for Eclipse is installed using the Eclipse Update Manager, a feature provided by Eclipse. The Eclipse Update Manager is a built-in plug-in installation and update manager that simplifies the installation process and lets you manage various plug-in instances.

    To install the CA Harvest Plug-in for use with Eclipse 3.2 or 3.3

    To install the CA Harvest Plug-in for use with Eclipse 3.4

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 and 7.0

  • Mozilla 3.0


    5.0 Installation Considerations

    This section contains prerequisite information for installing the CA Harvest Plug‑in for Eclipse and instructions to install the plug‑in for your operating system platform.

    Before proceeding, ensure that you have the CA Harvest documentation available, especially the CA Harvest Change Manager Installation Guide and readme. The latest CA Harvest documentation is available from Technical Support at http://www.ca.com/support.


    5.1 Perform Pre-installation Tasks

    Before installing the plug‑in, you must install the CA Harvest client, Harweb, and the Eclipse SDK or one of the IBM IDEs in the System Requirements.

    To install CA Harvest and Eclipse components

  • Install the CA Harvest client on each computer where the plug‑in will be installed, according to the instructions in the CA Harvest Change Manager Installation Guide.

    Install Harweb on a computer that is accessible by the workstation where the plug‑in is installed. The plug‑in works with Harweb for certain functions such as interactive merge and forms management. For instructions on installing Harweb, see the CA Harvest Change Manager Installation Guide.

  • Install the Eclipse SDK 3.4, 3.3, or 3.2 on each computer where the plug‑in will be installed.

    The Eclipse SDK 3.4, 3.3, and 3.2 includes the Eclipse Platform, Java development tools, and Plug‑in Development Environment, which contains source code, user documentation, and development documentation. Eclipse does not include a Java Runtime Environment (JRE). For the proper version of the JRE or Java Development Kit (JDK) that must be installed on your machine to run Eclipse, go to: http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Eclipse_FAQs.

  • In Eclipse, select Help, Software Updates, Find and Install.

    The installation wizard opens.

  • Select Search for new features to install and click Next.

  • Click New Remote Site.

    The New Remote Site dialog opens.

  • In the Name field, enter SupportConnect.

  • In the URL field, enter:
    http://supportconnectw.ca.com/public/harvesteclipse 

    This default URL points to the CA update site for the CA Harvest Plug‑in for Eclipse.

  • Click OK.

    The new SupportConnect site is added to the update sites list.

  • Select the check box next to the remote site created and click Next or Finish.

    The Search Results dialog opens.

  • Expand the site and expand the Eclipse category node.

  • Select the check box next to the 7.20.3 plug‑in version, then click Next to continue through the wizard to install the plug‑in.

  • When prompted to restart Eclipse, click Yes.
  • In Eclipse, select Help, Software Updates.

    The installation wizard opens.

  • Select the Available Software tab.

  • Click Add Site.

    The Add Site dialog opens.

  • In the Location field, enter the following URL:

    http://supportconnectw.ca.com/public/harvesteclipse 

    This default URL points to the CA update site for the CA Harvest Plug‑in for Eclipse.

  • Click OK.

    The new SupportConnect site is added to the list of available software sites, and is automatically scanned for possible updates.

  • Select the check box next to the 7.20.3 plug-in version, and click Install to install the plug-in.

  • When prompted to confirm the installation, click Finish.

  • When prompted to restart Eclipse, click Yes.


    6.0 Finding Known Issues and Fixes

    You can find known issues and fixes by logging in to SupportConnect and searching the Knowledge Base. To do so, perform the following steps:

  • Click the Support Connect link from the Technical Support page at http://www.ca.com/support and log in.

  • Click Knowledge Base.

  • In the Search field, enter CA Harvest Change Manager Plug‑in for Eclipse.

  • Select All of these words.

  • Choose criteria for your search by selecting the check box for each of the following:
