    Note for CA ARCserve Central Protection Manager:

    • All OS supported by physical machine will also be supported as Virtual Machine, as long as the virtualization vendor supports it.

    • CA ARCserve Central Protection Manager can manage CA ARCserve D2D and CA ARCserve Backup Server nodes with version equal to 16.5. CA ARCserve D2D nodes with version lower than 16.5 can be upgraded using D2D deployment in CA ARCserve Central Protection Manager.

    • All supported SQL Server databases are supported at a local or remote location.

    • Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V are supported only from SP2.

    Note for CA ARCserve Central Host-Based VM Backup:

    • CA ARCserve Central Host-Based VM Backup can manage all operating systems and applications that are supported by CA ARCserve D2D r16.5.
    • Windows Server 2012 is not supported as proxy server in Host Based VM Backup r16.5
    • Due to a VMware limitation, CA ARCserve Host-Based VM Backup cannot protect Windows Server 2012 virtual machines that have ReFS volumes, NTFS Data Deduplication volumes, or both enabled. However, Host-Based VM Backup can protect Windows Server 2012 virtual machines that does not have ReFS volumes, NTFS Data Deduplication volumes, or both disabled. To protect Windows Server 2012 virtual machines that have ReFS volumes, NTFS Data Deduplication volumes, or both enabled, install CA ARCserve D2D inside the virtual machines and perform the backup operations directly from the virtual machines.
    • To protect Windows Server 2012 virtual machines that have ReFS volumes, NTFS Data Deduplication volumes, or both enabled, install CA ARCserve D2D inside the virtual machines and perform the backup operations directly from the virtual machines.
    • Host Based VM Backup supports VMware View

    VMware View Support:

    • Host-Based VM Backup supports VMware View with exception to the following limitations:
    • The following limitations affect backing up and restoring VMware View linked clone virtual machines using CA ARCserve Central Host-Based VM Backup.
      • CA ARCserve Central Host-Based VM Backup supports backing up VMware View full virtual machines.
      • CA ARCserve Central Host-Based VM Backup does not support backing up nodes that are configured as VMware View linked clone virtual machines.
    • Update 1 for CA ARCserve Central Applications r16.5, now adds the capability to protect 'non-Windows' VMs that are supported on VMware ESX 4.x and 5.x. Please click here for details

    • All the above OS/Applications/Hypervisors support at base level (RTM) also except Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V for CA ARCserve Central Virtual Standby.

    • Both x86 and x64 browser architectures are supported.

    • CA ARCserve Host-Based VM Backup and CA ARCserve Central Virtual Stand-by support minor versions of vCener versions unless otherwise specified.

    • All Central Applications requires Adobe Flash Player version 10.2.152.26 or later.

    Note for CA ARCserve Central Host-Based VM Backup:
    CA ARCserve Central Host-Based VM Backup can restore data at application level granularity on computers running all operating systems that are supported by CA ARCserve D2D excluding the following operating systems:

    • Windows XP x86 and x64
    • Windows Vista x86 and x64
    • Windows 7 x86 and x64
    • Windows 8 x86 and x64
    • Windows 8.1 x86 and x64

    Note: CA ARCserve Central Host-Based VM Backup behaves in this manner because VMware does not support creating application level meta data on the excluded operating systems. Please refer Release Notes for more details.

    CA ARCserve Central Host-Based VM Backup supports VIX 1.11.0 through 1.11.6

    1 Note for vSphere 5.1 Support

    • Because of VMware limitations with VDDK 5.1, vSphere 5.1, Update 1 are supported with only VDDK 5.0 Update 1.
    • VIX 1.12 is supported with RO66936.

    2 Note for Windows 2012 R2 Support

    • CA ARCserve Central Host-Based VM Backup and CA ARCserve Virtual Stand-by requires RO66936

    3 Note for Vsphere 5.5 Support

    • CA ARCserve Central Host-Based VM Backup and CA ARCserve Virtual Stand-by requires RO68430
    • VIX 1.13.0 is supported with RO68430
