Give Children a Safer Ride to School in Indonesia

Over 15 underprivileged children and their families received new bicycles and a cash donation to support children with disabilities

Volunteers from CA Technologies and partner organizations band together to assemble bicycles for Indonesian youths from disadvantaged backgrounds

BALI, INDONESIA – September 1, 2016 – CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA) and partners gifted youths from disadvantaged backgrounds in Indonesia with eight bicycles to provide them and their families with a form of safe daily transportation, enabling children to focus on their studies instead of having to concern themselves with getting to school each day. CA Technologies also presented a cash donation to support children with disabilities.

The bicycles were built by over 40 CA employees and partners following the CA Asia South Partner Exchange from 31 July – 2 August 2016. The Asia South Partner Exchange is a conference for CA Technologies’ key partner executives. This year, close to 30 partners gathered in Bali, Indonesia, to discuss how to harness software to win in the application economy.

“Instead of a usual conference where only business and industry-related issues are discussed, the CA Asia South Partner Exchange gave us the opportunity to give back to the local community and be part of something meaningful,” said Dustin Loh, co-founder and executive director, Entiis. “Getting together to assemble bicycles for children was one of the highlights of the CA Asia South Partner Exchange and a unique and thoughtful experience.”

The bicycles will help children and their families from non-profit organization Puspadi Bali to travel to school or to the market, helping them provide for their families. With the majority of these families earning less than USD25 a week, and many of the children having to travel by foot or ride in unsafe vehicles to school, the new bicycles will ideally enable the children to travel more safely and quickly. With the new bicycles, the children no longer have to worry about getting to school, or missing out on classes if they are unable to get there in time.

Fifteen children from Puspadi Bali also joined CA and partners for tea, and to receive the bicycles.

Nick Lim, vice president, Asia South, CA Technologies, presents a check to local charity Puspadi Bali in support of their programs for the disabled

As part of CA’s commitment towards STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education, CA donated USD2,000 to Puspadi Bali’s programs aimed at overcoming the difficulties faced by people with disabilities by providing access to rehabilitation, education, training and employment.

CA Technologies has a primary focus on advancing STEM learning. The goal is to help transform the lives of young people around the globe and encourage the development of future leaders in IT. These areas are important foundations in education as the fastest growing occupations in the next decade will require at least some background in STEM.

“CA has a comprehensive global program that encourages volunteerism and giving back to the community where we live and work,” said Nick Lim, vice president, Asia South, CA Technologies. “We are happy to work with Puspadi Bali and our partners to help youths in less privileged communities realize their untapped potential through STEM-related experiences.”
