Dr. Maria Velez-Rojas is a Research Scientist with CA Strategic Research, and works out of the Santa Clara office. Her research interests lie at the intersection of visual interfaces and visual literacy, data analytics and human-computer interaction. At CA technologies, Maria leads research projects that explore the use of data visualization techniques to support data analysis in areas such as cyber security, anomaly detection and infrastructure management.
Maria received a Master of Science and a Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from Rutgers University in 2004 and 2009, respectively. Her Ph.D. dissertation was in the development of training methods that help individuals gain basic comprehension strategies and analytic skills for the efficient use of data visualizations. Maria has been a member of organizing committee for the IEEE Visualization conference since 2009.
