What happens in Vegas will go on Twitter (and the media)

We think CA World '16 was dynamite. But what did the media, analysts and other social influencers say about it?

Now that we’ve said goodbye to Las Vegas for another year, it’s time to look back at last week. Here are some highlights of what people had to say about the event and CA’s announcements.

On the first day of the event, CEO Mike Gregoire took the stage to outline why modern companies need to be built to change if they want to be built to last. After the keynote, IT-TNA’s Steve Wexler wrote:

“However, its new theme (they call it a paradigm), Built To Change, best captures everything that has come to be called digitalization, digital transformation and Industry 4.0. It’s not a new or unique view of the current environment — the concept has been around since at least 2006 — but it represents what going digital means to the world, its customers and prospects, and CA itself better than anything else I’ve seen (IMHO).”

CA announced a line up of new products and enhancements that support its customers’ transformation at the event.

According to Jason Bloomberg from Forbes, mainframe is key to digital transformation for CA. Bloomberg outlined what he thought were the mainframe strategy options for the company: Divert resources to more modern portfolios; maintain the existing mainframe business to the exclusion of newer strategies; or double down on the mainframe and bring it forward within a modern, transformed strategy. He concluded:

“Less courageous companies would have chosen one of the first two options. CA, in contrast, made the gutsier bet: increasing innovation on the mainframe, bringing it into the digital transformation fold. Once you understand CA’s redoubled bet on the mainframe, the rest of its strategy falls into place.

Its willingness and courage to drive innovation across its portfolios, however, shows that CA has found its way out of the Innovator’s Dilemma, leaving its incumbent competitors behind.”

Analyst feedback

The analysts seemed to think we’re on the right track. Here’s what Tony Lock (Freeform Dynamics), Donnie Berkholz (451 Research) and Tom Murphy (Gartner) had to say during the keynotes.
