It’s been about a month since we formally announced the successful acquisition of CA Technologies by Broadcom. Mainframers across the globe have been reaching out to me so I thought I’d take this opportunity between the holidays to share more about our future.
A month ago, in my video outlining the acquisition, I spoke of Broadcom’s decades long track record of being a technology leader in the markets they serve. We see this as being consistent with our goal of creating great technology to make your mainframe a more effective and efficient platform.
Much of the feedback I’ve received focused on Hock Tan’s comment stating his desire to “double down for future growth.” With this in mind, let me share with you some of the changes we’re making moving forward.
First, we understand Agile and Modern Engineering is how we create sustainable and continuous value for you. This manifests itself in how we find and deploy our engineering talent. To put it simply – we’re hiring in various locations around the world. I’m excited that we’re in a position to increase our talent pool globally. Our focus is on bringing aboard engineering talent working “shoulder to shoulder” to deliver continuous value to market, faster.
Second, we understand you need to digitally transform and that requires you to balance investments supporting both innovation and modernization. We, too, face this balancing act. Being part of the Broadcom family enables us to not only continue our current roadmap commitments, but also allows for increases in key investment areas. We’re expanding investment in our core products so that you can continue to count on them for many years to come. At the same time, we’re making targeted investments in new initiatives such as Zowe and CA Brightside, CA Mainframe Resource Intelligence, CA Mainframe Operational Intelligence, CA Data Content Discovery, CA Dynamic Capacity Intelligence, as well as future capabilities and technologies with a focus on helping customers be more effective and efficient.
Finally, we understand value-based outcomes matter most to maximize your ROI and drive transformation initiatives. The organizational model we’re deploying brings all field facing skills from Services, Support, Pre and Post Sales, as well as Customer Success directly into one organization. Our goal here is strengthening relationships providing you with the opportunity to influence our strategies and direction moving forward. One of the ways you’ll experience this is thru our “being local” strategy. You’ll see us more on-site, at local user groups, and other events that are close to you. It’s our way of making it easier to hear your voice.
You see, this acquisition recognizes the fact that mainframes will be around for many years to come. And you can count on us to serve you.
