Peter Matthews is a Research Staff Member in CA Labs. Peter is based in the UK and coordinates research activity between the R&D laboratories and academia. He is also leading the work on behalf of CA Technologies in the Service Centric Software Engineering (SeCSE) research consortium.
Peter brings more than 25 years of experience with him to CA Labs, the last 12 years in various roles with CA Technologies. He joined the company as part of the acquisition of ASK/Ingres. Initially responsible for Ingres development in CA Technologies, he joined the newly created research and development field operation. He worked with customers to implement and improve their data management as the European manager responsible for introducing and developing Jasmine object-oriented database solutions to customers and staff within CA Technologies. Following that, Peter joined R&D as a member of the Neugent SWAT team, developing and implementing solutions based on the company’s neural net technologies.
For the last two years, Peter has worked on proposals for research to the European Union and as a technical member of the SeCSE consortium working on management, monitoring and composition of services. He has now taken over responsibility for CA Technologies effort on this project. This project is part funded by grants from the European Union. He has also been involved in the EU public affairs program as part of the Office of the Chief Technology Officer.
Trained as a teacher with Manchester University, he taught for seven years before moving into computing. He is a published author on relational database technology.
