Michael J. Cohen (www.linkedin.com/in/MichaelJCohenCA) is a Senior Director of Software Engineering for CA Technologies, managing the Applied Research team within the Office of the CTO. In this role, he mentors a team of Software Engineers tasked with breaking barriers between research and solutions by the practical application of the research communities' accumulated theories, knowledge and techniques to current CA solutions, Accelerator projects and other initiatives.
Michael joined CA Technologies in 1982 as a C programmer creating multi-platform information management products for mainframe, Unix and PC platforms, and has held a number of positions including Assistant Vice President of Software Development, Divisional Vice President of CA’s Technology Advocacy Group, Program Manager and Director of Solution Architecture in CA’s Professional Services division. Most recently he helped manage CA's Accelerator/East innovation program, coordinating lean-canvas/startup incubation technical activities, software design and the research activities of student Research Assistants working with CA at Stony Brook University's Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT).
Michael has several patents issued and pending in areas such as medical informatics, workflow management and expertise mining. He like classical and jazz music and has performed as a trumpet player in many venues.
