Smrati Gupta

Research Engineer
Creative Innovator, Ph.D and Chess Board Dominator

Dr. Smrati Gupta is Principal, Strategic Research, based in Barcelona, Spain. Her current areas of interest include developing models and conceptual designs of architecture for insightful innovation within CA products in areas of machine learning, decision support systems, service virtualisation, agile development, security in cloud environments and self-sustainable data centre monitoring. In addition, she is heavily involved in evaluating business proposition of applied research within CA. She is involved in multiple European Union research projects in areas of cloud computing, big data analytics, Smart cities, electromagnetic waves based data centre monitoring and decision making in complex environment. She is also involved in utilising the research and technological expertise, gained through participation in EU projects, for the enhancement of performance and novelty of CA Products. She has filed 6 patents, written 2 articles in peer reviewed Scientific journals, 2 book chapters and presented several papers in scientific conferences.

Prior to joining CA Labs, Dr. Gupta completed her Ph.D in July 2014, in the field of wireless communication from Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB). Her thesis was entitled ‘Contributions on networking techniques in wireless relay channels’. Her research work involved development of optimisation techniques in complex environments using tools of network coding and game theoretical analysis. She was a visiting researcher at Polytechnic University of NYU, New York, Arcelor Mittal Steel Plant, Kazakhstan and University of Salzburg, Austria. She is a member of TOSCA Technical Committee. She has been awarded Anita Borg Google Women in Engineering Retreat award for exemplary women in engineering.
