Forrester analysts evaluated six risk-based authentication (RBA) suites against 16 criteria to help security and risk professionals select the right solution for their authentication requirements.CA RiskMinderTM (formerly CA Arcot RiskFortTM) earned the top overall score among vendor solutions in the “Current Offering” evaluation, including the highest scores for “Templates” and “Case management,” and among the highest scores for “Two-factor authentication” and “Web single sign-on.”
“CA Technologies has leading hosted RBA capabilities. The acquisition of Arcot signals that it’s evolving from a traditional IAM vendor into not only RBA but fraud management,” wrote report author Andras Cser, principal analyst, Forrester Research, Inc. “The [CA RiskMinder] solution provides strong case management screens with case queues and extensive reporting and is offered as an on-premises, perpetual license offering but also as a hosted SaaS solution with per-user and per-transaction pricing.” *
CA RiskMinder provides real-time protection against identity theft and online fraud using risk–based, adaptive authentication. It evaluates the fraud potential of online access attempts - from enterprise online services to consumer e-commerce transactions - and calculates the risk score based on a broad set of variables. All of this is done transparently without inconveniencing legitimate, low-risk users.
“As identity theft and online fraud attacks become more sophisticated, our customers need to strike a balance between the necessary security and protection on one hand, and the additional inconvenience that can result for their employees, partners and customers on the other,” said Mike Denning, general manager, Security at CA Technologies. "We feel that Forrester’s assessment speaks to the strength of CA RiskMinder to meet customers’ demands for a security solution that uses risk-based rules and parameters and analytical modeling techniques to reduce exposure to fraudulent activity without impacting the user experience or creating a high rate of false positives.”
