Founded in Vancouver in 2003, Layer 7 grew into one of the largest and most well-established technology companies in British Columbia by helping organizations open their APIs to partners, developers, mobile apps and cloud services in a secure and scalable way. The company was acquired by CA Technologies in June.
Now in their 20th year, the TIAs were created to celebrate the success of British Columbia’s technology industry. In honoring the companies, people and innovations driving this success, the BCTIA is credited with helping to create a strong sense of community within the technology industry province-wide.
“Organizations are grappling with mobile device management, cloud access and developer engagement programs, which has caused a surge in demand for quality API management tools and services,” said Dimitri Sirota, senior vice president, Security, CA Technologies and co-founder of Layer 7. “This demand has driven growth at Layer 7, where we’ve worked to develop the best suite of API management tools. We are honored to be recognized by the BCTIA, an organization that has worked tirelessly to promote and foster entrepreneurship and innovation right here in British Columbia.”
Company of the Year nominees were judged on four criteria: financial performance, strategy, market position, and technical and product excellence.
“We congratulate all winners and finalists for their ingenuity, adaptability and particularly their resilience in an ever-changing landscape – they continue to put a spotlight on British Columbia by making their mark on the world,” said BCTIA President and CEO Bill Tam. “Our industry has a long standing reputation of cultivating entrepreneurial talent to grow global successes, and represent the passion and perseverance of entrepreneurship that is pervasive in our tech community.”
The awards ceremony drew over one thousand attendees from British Columbia’s technology and business community to the Vancouver Convention Centre. The full list of winners can be found here: http://www.bctia.org/Community/News/BCTIA-News/2013/6/6/2013-TIAs
