Issue:

CA PIM 12.8 CF3 upgrade has two methods of application: There is the new patcher utility that reduces the number of manual steps involved and there is the older manual method. When running a manual update to 12.8 CF3 this may fail  when trying to run the schema_update.sql procedure

Environment:
CA PIM 12.8 ENTM on Windows
Cause:

CA PIM 12.8 CF3 contains two schema update files, in different locations. If performing the manual upgrade procedure there is a step, step number 20 which could result in the following errors if you run the incorrect .sql file: 

Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 128

Incorrect syntax near '\'.

Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 136

Incorrect syntax near '\'.

Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 143

etc...

The above is the result of running  schema_update.sql from the 12.8CF3-Windows-Scripts.zip file and not the one in the ManualStepsWithoutPatcher.zip file. 

Workaround:

Use the schema_update.sql from the ManualStepsWithoutPatcher.zip archive or alternatively remove the \ in the schema_update.sql from the 12.8CF3-Windows-Scripts.zip file before running it.

The extra slashes shown above are required for the automated patcher process to parse the schema_update.sql from 12.8CF3-Windows-Scripts.zip, but if you are running it manually, the backslashes need to be removed.
