Announcing Changes to Physical Shipment for CA Common Services for z/OS Version 14.0

CA Common Services for z/OS Version 14.0 is being delivered on a DVD instead of a cartridge, such as a 3480 and 3490, for physical delivery.

CA Technologies preferred method of product delivery is via the Internet, using our industry leading CA Mainframe Software Manager (CA MSM) services to download, install, deploy and configure software. Downloading the product from CA Support Online is also an option, using the tapeless ESD/PAX installation method which has received industry-wide acceptance. The new z/OS DVD for CA Common Services Version 14.0 contains an exact image of what would typically be produced if the product had been selected for electronic download. We are providing a DVD for those sites that require physical media.

Please see below for detailed instructions providing the steps needed to upload a file from the product DVD to the mainframe for installation.

Steps needed to upload a file from the product DVD

What if I can't support or upload files from DVDs to the mainframe? You still have the option to call up and special request delivery of a specific product on a 3480, 3490 or similar media, but a slight processing delay should be anticipated for this special processing.

Please contact your local CA Technologies Support Representative if you have any questions about these upcoming changes.
