CA Gen Support for Windows XP SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2 and Vista
Date: August 03, 2011
Whilst Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 were fully supported by Microsoft when CA Gen r8 was released, they are no longer part of Microsoft's Mainstream Support as of 2009 and 2010 respectively.
CA Technologies recognizes that Microsoft provides extended support for these older operating systems and that this extended support for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 continues through early 2014 and 2015 respectively. Due to this situation, CA Technologies will continue to support these two Microsoft operating systems through the life of CA Gen r7.6 and CA Gen r8 with the following provisos:
Any customer who reports a problem for one or other of these operating systems will:
- have extended support from Microsoft or will be able to verify that the problem exists on Window 7 or Windows 2008
- in the event that the problem does NOT occur with Windows 7 or Windows 2008 and that the customer has a suitable extended support agreement in place with Microsoft, they will contact Microsoft to work with us on any issues specific to Windows XP or Windows 2003 as necessary
Future releases of CA Gen beyond CA Gen r8 will no longer be certified for use with or targeting Windows XP or Windows Server 2003.
Vista will be supported with limitations (as described in the document "AllFusion Gen r7.6 Vista/Windows 7 Support" which can be found on the Gen web support page) for the life of CA Gen r7.6 and will be fully supported for Gen r8. However, future releases of CA Gen beyond CA Gen r8 will not support Vista.
